After a historic Democratic National Convention, Barack and Michelle Obama, Steph Curry and Oprah Winfrey are among the Black stars supporting the VP.

Vice President Kamala Harris has energized the presidential election in a way no one, including her could have predicted. The 2024 Democratic National Convention was a star-studded affair, that featured four nights of powerful speeches supporting Harris’ campaign to become the next president. In addition to celebs like Kerry Washington; Stevie Wonder; and John Legend, all of whom have already endorsed the vice president, we got buzzy, impactful moments from Oprah Winfrey; Stephen Curry; Lil Jon; Wendell Pierce; and Barack and Michelle Obama.

Performing on night three of the Democratic National Convention, the music legend that is Stevie Wonder gave vocals and support for Harris with his timeless performance.

Back in July, Yvette Nicole Brown made it crystal clear who she’s voting for, writing in a tweet to X/Twitter: “I’m sure it goes without saying but I FULLY stand with (and next to) my Soror, the fabulous @KamalaHarris ! She has my FULL endorsement for President of the United States.”

Showing her support at the Democratic National Convention as well, Octavia Spencer rooted for Harris and Walz in a video posted to her Instagram page.

Barack and Michelle Obama

From Michelle pointing out that being president was now a “Black job,” to Barack mocking Trump’s obsession with “crowd sizes,” the former first couple showed that they’re still two of the most impactful, entertaining public figures we’ve ever known. Seriously, we’re gonna have Michelle’s speech on repeat for the rest of the campaign.

Oprah Winfrey

Her fiery speech at the 2024 Democratic National Convention told everyone that Kamala Harris is definitely one of Oprah’s “Favorite Things.”

Steph Curry

Fresh off his heroics in the gold medal game at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry surprised DNC attendees by popping up on video to endorse the former California Senator. He cited the teamwork it took to win gold and the immense pride he had in being a part of Team USA as his inspiration for choosing Harris.

“That unity on and off the court reminded us that together we can do all things and continue to inspire the world,” Curry said while wearing his gold medal. “That’s why I believe that Kamala as president can bring that unity back and continue to move our country forward. This is about preserving hope and belief in our country. Making sure families can be taken care of in their most precious times.”

“AHAHAHAHA LETS GOOOOO I TOLD YALLL KAMALA WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE 2024 candidate…..STOP FCKIN PLAYIN WITH ME !!!!!!!,” Cardi B wrote on X/Twitter following the news and in response to a resurfaced video from June of her commentary from the earlier debate between Trump and Biden, in which she also talked about VP Kamala Harris taking Biden’s place.

“You know you want to be the fucking president,” Cardi said at one point in the nearly 10-minute long video (in which she also caused a slight stir when she later mentioned how she wasn’t “fucking with none of them” —Democrat or Republican. But thanks to this new announcement, it appears as if she may have had a slight change of heart.

Those meetings, not only led to me being able to interview her on the campaign tour, they also changed my perspective on her as a leader. I fully offer my support to @vp @kamalaharris and have full confidence in her ability to lead this country!”

“I can’t believe the President did the right thing by endorsing Kamala. This is historic on so many levels, on so many levels,” director Lee Daniels said in part in a video to Instagram following the news. “We will win. And my mom will see the first Black woman, the first woman as the President of the United States. It’s incredible.”

“Congratulations to the VP,” wrote singer-songwriter Maxwell on X/Twitter, adding in his selfie with Kamala Harris.

In a simple yet powerful post to her Instagram story, Niecy Nash lent her support behind the VP with the phrase: “Yes. We. Kam.”

Echoing similar sentiments as his sister, Martin Luther King III, son of the late civil rights icon also lended his support for Kamala Harris, writing in an official statement in part to Instagram and X/Twitter:

At a moment with so much at stake, we need a nominee for President who speaks to our better angels. We need someone who embodies Dr. King’s legacy. We need someone who advocates for a fairer, more inclusive America. Thankfully, we have that nominee in Kamala Harris and we are proud to endorse her.
