For context, the relationship between Mathis and Brown has never been one to where they would categorize each other as friends. In fact, due to Brown’s history of “slick remarks,” the two have been on rocky terrain with each other. But now, it seems like tensions have escalated even further thanks to recent, derogatory remarks Brown made in reference to Mathis’ wife Linda.

Specifically, in a July 2024 interview with The Art of Dialogue, Brown took the time out to share his negative thoughts and feelings about former Vice President Kamala Harris. During his conversation he called Harris a “hoe” which prompted Mathis to speak out in her defense and say that Brown had better not say that about his wife. That comment eventually got back to Brown who then doubled down and said essentially that he didn’t know if Mathis’ wife was a hoe but if she takes her husband’s money—then she might be.

Fast forward to October 2025, and Mathis is finally responding back to those words but is making it clear that he doesn’t want to get into any public feud with him.

“Lions don’t fight monkeys, it’s unfair. And to put it in street vernacular, gangsters don’t fight lames,” Mathis said in a followup interview with The Art of Dialogue. “In my case, an OG ain’t fighting a lame. So, I don’t want to fight with him, I want to give him some care! Something is wrong! The man put my wife’s name in his mouth in the context of a hoe when I had mentioned him calling [Kamala Harris] a hoe and I said he better not say it about my wife.”

Mathis went on to express how incredulous he was at the fact that Brown would go that far to say all of that despite his history of saying controversial things and said that he’s “displaying toxic masculinity.” He also went on to question why he would say something like that in the first place without fear of repercussions and alluded to Brown maybe having some sort of mental health issues.

“Who talks like that and not have any fear? I would have fear of saying that, and as I just told you, I’m fearless. So I think something’s wrong,” Mathis explained. “The man is near 80, which is about the time dementia sets in if you’re going to get it. If you think about it long enough, folks in that age group 80 or more, those that talk crazy, you hear ’em talk crazy all the time.”

We don’t know what’s going with Brown but he’s got to stop saying all of these egregious things ASAP. It’s beyond problematic.
