Judge Joe Brown is back in the news cycle, but it isn’t for anything positive. In fact, the once popular TV judge is making waves for his recent negative comments he spewed towards singer Lizzo–and sadly, the response online is mixed!

If you haven’t seen the clip by now, then allow us to explain. Brown’s words stem from a new interview he did with The Art of Dialogue where he shared his thoughts on myriad of Hollywood entertainers like Tyler Perry, Cardi B and more. But when it was time for him to express how he felt about Lizzo, what came out of his mouth next was something so harsh, our mouths are still agape from hearing it.
“She looks grotesque and she’s an embarrassment,” Brown said.
He went on to explain that his ire for her stems from a performance she did while playing a flute that belonged to a former president and that she was dressed inappropriately for the occasion. He’s likely referring to a 2022 concert Lizzo put on in Washington D.C. when she played James Madison’s crystal flute, but it should be noted here that concertgoers didn’t appear to be as dressed up as the other people in the room that he was talking about. Lizzo also played the flute again in the middle of the floor inside the Library of Congress, but she was dressed a cropped long-sleeve shirt and jeans during that ordeal.
Regardless, Brown made it more than clear that he wasn’t a fan of the “Rumors” singer.
“She shows up naked with a flimsy little piece of lingerie on, looking like a hogzilla, playing that glass flute. Yeah she has talent, but what is she doing?” he said. “It’s compensation for an inferiority complex. That’s the psychology behind it. That woman detests and despises herself, but she broadcasts it in a futile effort to convince others that she’s proud of it. She’s not.”
Brown concluded by saying that the “Truth Hurts” singer needs help instead of adulation and that he felt sorry for her.
Once his words began to circulate online, the reaction from folks was surprisingly mixed with some people calling him out for his harsh words while others leaned more towards his side.
“He needs to stop. Lizzo is beautiful Meanwhile his face looks like paint dripping down a wall. Foh He’s bitter and negative af,” wrote one user on X/Twitter.
“This nigga quit being a tv judge and just became a bitter old man I see,” said another.
“Stop giving this pathetic excuse for a black man a platform to bash black women enough already,” one other user said in part.
However, over on Instagram, some users felt Brown had some validity to what he was saying.
“And where did he lie? That’s the problem today with this generation, nobody likes the truth. Well, you know an old-school person is always gonna tell you the truth whether you like it or not!!!!” said one user.
“Thank you for being honest Judge Joe Brown. America needs you,” another wrote.
Added one other user: “I’m in agreeance[sic] with him sorry! It’s HARSH TRUTH.”
Just like the FAMU/Honey Beez situation that we previously told you about–speaking on someones body whether directly or indirectly is just NOT COOL. When you have to resort to that or name-calling, that just makes you look even worse. Someone ought to tell Brown that his time would be better spent keeping his mouth shut and enjoying his life rather than speaking on women’s bodies.
