WTF Marvel? Black Twitter Shames Studio Into Putting Danai Gurira’s Name Atop Avengers: Endgame Poster

On Friday, when Marvel Studios released their official trailer for Avengers: Endgame, they also released the movie’s official poster. Shortly thereafter, folks noticed that of the 13 actors in the main cast, only 12 names were given top billing on the poster—including Bradley Cooper, whose face wasn’t even in the flick (as he voiced Guardians of the Galaxy’s animated space raccoon, Rocket).

Guess whose name was missing? Yup, it was the only black woman of the 13. Actress Danai Gurira’s name was left entirely off top billing on the poster and instead shuttled to the tiny print at the bottom.

Gurira, who played General Okoye—all around badass and asskicker in Black Panther—who will ostensibly be avenging the Black Panther in Endgame, was the only one relegated to the back. This is especially galling since Black Panther is Marvel’s highest grossing movie!
