The Smiths have been married 17 years, and like clockwork, gossip sites reported on a possible divorce Monday. But the patriarch of the Smith family has spoken, which is something he’s never publicly done before.

Smith went on Facebook to assure people that his marriage is not over.

“Under normal circumstances, I don’t usually respond to foolishness. (Because it’s contagious) But, so many people have extended me their “deepest condolences” that I figured - “What the hell… I can be foolish, too!” he wrote. “So, in the interest of redundant, repetitious, over & over-again-ness… Jada and I are…NOT GETTING A DIVORCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Pinkett Smith also added her own comments to the fray on Twitter.

But seriously, this marriage seems like the only one in Hollywood that people are publicly counting down to a divorce. Is it because the couple seems to stay out of scandals? Imagine if, down the road, the Smiths do decide to get a divorce; what’s going to happen? Will the world end? Will Jaden tweet something Jaden-like? Will Willow decide to never whip her hair back and forth? Honestly, I hope these two stay together as long as Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis did.
