We’d have to agree. Similar to her breakout web series, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, Insecure explores themes familiar to millennials, but from the black perspective.
And note that there is no singular black experience.
“This is not going to be every black person’s story, because every black person doesn’t have the same story,” Yvonne Orji, who plays Molly, told The Root. So unfortunately, Insecure might not explore your particular proclivities, but shoutout to Rae for successfully exploring her own. The message: Black people are human and vastly unique and deserve the opportunity to be depicted in a manner that's "regular as hell."
Expect to witness the highs and lows of relationships, situationships, sisterhood, working with white folks and more because, well, navigating life isn’t always easy. Yes, Rae will be freestyling on camera. ABG fans, rejoice!
