President-elect Donald Trump has picked Haley, the first woman and critic of Trump’s campaign to be chosen for a top-level position, sources told the Associated Press.

If confirmed by the Senate, Haley, an Asian American, would be the first nonwhite on Trump’s team.

While the ambassador position is not considered a Cabinet position, sources told AP that Trump does consider it to be a Cabinet-level position.

The pick is somewhat surprising considering Haley was an outspoken critic of Trump during his run for the White House. In fact, for president, she backed Florida Sen. Marco Rubio before supporting Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. However, despite their differences, Haley and Trump met last week at Trump Tower in New York City, and afterward, Haley told reporters she had a “very nice” conversation, AP reports.

If Haley does, in fact, get the job, then Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster will become the South Carolina governor. McMaster is an early Trump supporter and endorsed the president-elect before the state’s GOP primary in February, AP reports.
