NBC definitely gave people something to talk about and look forward to when the network revealed the costumes for the cast of its upcoming The Wiz Live! broadcast. And the costumes have caught a lot of people’s eyes.

The high-fashion costumes worn by Shanice Williams as Dorothy, David Alan Grier as the Cowardly Lion, Elijah Kelley as the Scarecrow and Ne-Yo as the Tin Man are a step up from the costumes worn by the original play’s cast, as well as those of Diana Ross and her crew in the 1970s film version.
Not yet revealed are the costumes of the other cast members, who include Queen Latifah as the Wiz; Mary J. Blige as Evillene, the Wicked Witch of the West; Stephanie Mills, who played Dorothy in the original Broadway production, as Auntie Em; Uzo Aduba as Glinda, the Good Witch of the South; and Amber Riley, who will play Addaperle, the Good Witch of the North.
The Wiz Live! airs Dec. 3 on NBC.
