Known for his bass voice, former Boyz II Men singer Michael McCary appeared on Iyanla: Fix My Life over the weekend and revealed why he left the award-winning group.

At the age of 22, McCary says, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which affects the brain and spinal cord.
“When I first saw of the ailments start to happen, it was like little back spasms at first, and it would get stronger and stronger,” McCary, 44, said on Iyanla Vanzant's show. “Once I was about 22, it started going full scale.”
It was this diagnosis that created strife between McCary and the other members of the group. McCary said that after he left the group in 2003, Nathan and Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman "abandoned" him and chose to go on without him.
“I want to get over the hurt and abandonment that I feel from the group that I’ve been with for so long and gave my life to,” he said. “I want to be able to go in a room with them and not feel like I want to choke them.”
What's interesting is that just last month, Wanya Morris appeared on Oprah: Where Are They Now and explained McCary's health issues as just "back issues."
“One of the problems was he had a back issue,” said Morris. “It could have been fixed; instead, he stopped coming to work and we had to move forward without him—and he wasn’t happy about that.”
