The original Sister Act, released in 1992, starred Whoopi Goldberg and was one of Disneyโ€™s most successful movies of that decade, earning more than $200 million worldwide, according to IMDb. A sequel starring Lauryn Hill and a Broadway musical followed.

The remake will be written by Kirsten โ€œKiwiโ€ Smith and Karen McCulla, known for Legally Blonde, The House Bunny and Sheโ€™s the Man, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The plot details of the new movie hasnโ€™t been revealed yet, and there is no word on whether Goldberg will reprise her role as the tough-acting lounge singer-turned-nun.
