Wearing his ever-present blue vest, Mckesson welcomed Perry to Pod Save the People, and the two sat cross-legged on a white sofa to discuss Perryβs history with white privilege and appropriation.
Perry admitted that sheβs made several mistakes, for example, the hairstyles sheβs chosen to wear, especially when it came to her βThis Is How We Doβ video. But apparently she has this βangel,β her black friend Cleo, to guide her when it comes to why she shouldnβt do half the stuff she does.

To his credit, Mckesson did offer up an explanation as to why he had Perry on his show:
Maybe this interview would have gotten a better reception if it wasnβt airing around the same time that Perry is promoting a new album. But Iβm pretty sure Perry isnβt going to stop appropriating or making bubblegum pop music anytime soon. The same way Iβm sure Mckesson isnβt going to stop wearing his blue vest.
