After Customer Got Caught In A Hilarious Braid Shop Brawl, She Recorded The Whole Thing

A lady went to get her hair hair braided, but instead found herself caught in the middle of braid shop drama.

Going to get our hair done can always be an experience for Black women. There’s the classic “hey girl” text, which usually means your stylist is about to cancel on you at the last minute, or the stress of picking a new hairstyle. But have you ever found yourself in the middle of a braid shop brawl? One woman on TikTok did, and she documented the whole thing.

TikTok creator Ally (@2k_luxeco) did a review of her experience at “Kokovi African Hair Braiding” in Decatur, Georgia. The video started pretty normally. She arrived bright and early at 6:45 a.m. and was ready to have her hair done.

Then came the first red flag: the price for her braids started at $200, but by the time she had sat in her chair, the price had gone up to $240, and then landed on the final price of $280. (However, in a follow-up video, Ally cleared up that this was just miscommunication and the $280 pricing was correct.)

“So you agreed to three price changes,” one user questioned in the TikTok comments.

Next: Ally was also asked to separate the braiding hair for the stylists to make it quicker for them.

“Girl, I’m trying to relax my nerves,” She said in a voiceover. “I’m not trying to do work at 7 o’clock in the morning, but here I was separating the hair.”

Then came the brawl: The argument seemed to have broken out of thin air, but the stylists, Ally’s own and another, were shouting across the braid shop when, all of a sudden, they started fighting. You can watch as Ally shouts after her stylist to finish her hair.

As if the fight itself wasn’t stressful enough, Ally also had a doctor’s appointment to get to, and she needed to be done by 3 o’clock. “Let’s calm this down,” she told her stylist.

Eagle-eyed viewers also noted on the fact that Ally is wearing a heart monitor in the video:

“The fact that u have a heart monitor on and they’re doing all that hootin and hollin is sending me. Don’t u go back,” wrote one user.

However, even after her stylist apologized and said she wasn’t going to fight again, the two stylists entered the ring one more time, before Ally’s hair was completed.

It got so chaotic that her stylist lifted her dress and shouted, “Look at my a**” to antagonize the other. But would you believe that amid all this chaos, Ally was being asked about her payment methods? Whew.

“I’m not paying 200 [dollars] and helping you with your job.. & y’all fighting??? Unt unnnnh. I need a discount,” commented one user.

“How she go from saying sorry I’m not gonna say nothing, to mooning everybody,” wrote another user with multiple laughing emojis.

“You gotta be the first person in history to show up to a street fight and come out with braids,” wrote another.

But, looks like all press might just be good press because many viewers noted that they would love to get their hair braided with a “show”:

“This pure entertainment… I’d go back without thinking twice,” wrote one user.

“Where this at? I wanna go I love the drama,” commented another.

“I’m so messy I’ll come back the next day to see if they’re still fighting,” added another.

In a follow-up video, Ally said that she didn’t know how the fight started or what it was about. But what she does know is that she’s not going back to the shop.

“It’s not my type of atmosphere. I don’t want drama. I don’t want two hairstylists in tea. I don’t want that. It’s not what I paid for… My hair eats. I love my hair, she [her stylist] did great… My braider should’ve been more professional, but again, I don’t know how long she was being antagonized. At some point, you gotta say something.” And she sure did.
