Almost two weeks ago, Meghan Markle’s "baby mama" dance, performed while pregnant with her daughter Lilibet, went viral on Instagram. While "haters" hated, fans endlessly shared the adorable video of Markle and Prince Harry letting loose in the hospital room. Everyone was surprised to see the royal couple get down like that.
Now, Markle has broken her silence on the video since letting it drop and joined in on the internet's laughter. A clip has been sparking conversation on X, formerly known as Twitter, from a podcast that Meghan Markle featured on.
Markle sat with Emma Grede, CEO of Good American and Chief Product Officer of SKIMS, on her podcast "Aspire with Emma Grede," a show where she interviews some of the world's most successful people in order to help her audience build their dream life.
The clip starts with Grede telling Markle that you "have to be authentic." To which Markle agrees, adding, "Did you see my baby mama dance?" And then bursts out in laughter as Grede admits her shock at the viral clip.
"But that's you, right? That's you in a kind of way we haven't been able to see before." Grede continues, "I did like a little secret cheer because I was like, well, that's what I kind of want to see from you. I want to see that happiness..."
"But also by the way, that wasn't yesterday," Meghan adds. "That was four years ago. So it's also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there's still a whole life, a real, authentic life that's happening behind the scenes. I'm just grateful that now being back on socials, I have a place where I can share it, on my own terms."
In the comments on X, fans were cheering about the fact that Markle was sharing her authenticity:
"Meghan said she been turnt ya'll are just now seeing it," wrote one user.
"Our girl is FREE! She's gonna do what she wants, when she wants and on her own terms. Iktr Megs," wrote another.
"This level of unbothered because you're happy, LOVE," wrote another.
But of course, on X , there will always be some layer of negativity, no matter what is posted, and some people in the replies weren't feeling the podcast clip:
"Omg, can they go away and be private," asked one user.
"@EmmaGrede Markled!! Wrote another, this is pathetic," wrote another.
While the exclusive clip was floating on X before the podcast episode aired, Grede's full interview with Meghan Markle drops today, and from the clip, it looks like, despite the negativity, Mrs Markle remains unbothered.
