White House Petty Level on 10: Message Says They Can’t Answer Phone Because Democrats Shut Down the Government

I think at this point we can all agree that the White House has become a bottomless pit of petty. It’s one thing to have the president trolling nonwhite America on Twitter, but now someone in the White House, most likely at the president’s request, has changed the White House telephone answering service to blame Democrats for the shutdown of the federal government.

“Thank you for calling the White House. Unfortunately, we cannot answer your call today, because congressional Democrats are holding government funding, including funding for our troops and other national security priorities, hostage to an unrelated immigration debate,” a woman says on the outgoing message, the New York Post reports. “Due to this obstruction, the government is shut down.”

This has been the mantra from the right since Congress failed to reach a temporary spending bill that would have kept the government up and running until Feb. 16. Since Saturday, the Republican Party has consistently blamed the shutdown on Democrats, who have demanded that any funding agreement “include protections for the 800,000 immigrants brought illegally to the United States from deportation,” the Post reports.

Republicans are demanding that any agreement include funding for the dumbass wall that no one wants. Until the two sides can reach some kind of agreement, the government will be shut down and the White House won’t be answering the phone, but the Post did note an alternative way to reach the social media troll.

“In the meantime, you can leave a comment for the president on whitehouse.gov. We look forward to taking your calls as soon as the government reopens,” the message says, the Post reports.

This might be one of the pettiest moves to come out of a White House being run by a faux dictator who once played “Whose nuclear button is bigger?” with a madman.
