What This Reporter Discovered in a River While On Assignment Will Shock You

During a live broadcast about a missing teen girl, one reporter made a shocking discovery.

A Black reporter made a shocking discovery while on assignment near a river in the Brazil’s northern region. On June 30, Lenildo Frazão was at the Mearim River with a camera crew reporting on a story about a 13-year-old girl named Raíssa, who had gone missing while bathing in the water with friends in the area the day before. The young girl’s friends and other witnesses were unable to rescue Raíssa when she found herself caught in the current and struggling to stay afloat.

During his live report, Frazão was attempting to show viewers just how deep the river’s water could get, so he decided to take off his shoes, step out into the water and give them a closer look. He moved further out into the river, and by the time the water was chest-high, he got the surprise of his life when he stepped on something strange underneath the surface.

“I think there is something at the bottom of the water,” an understandably frazzled Frazão said. “It felt like an arm. Could it be her?”

Shocked, he moved towards the shore but eventually decided to go back out to see if his suspicions were correct.

“My God from heaven,” Frazão said. “Where’s the girl’s body? It was right here like this.”

According to The Daily Mail, Frazäo and his team alerted authorities after he realized that what he stepped on was likely the body of the young girl. The Maranhão Military Fire Department then sent a team of rescue divers to the scene, who eventually recovered the missing teen’s body at the exact spot where the reporter was standing during his live shot. After conducting an investigation, Raíssa’s death was confirmed as an accident.
