The official trailer for the Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez on Me was released Thursday, and needless to say, it seems that the movie-makers have found the perfect actor to play the slain rapper.
The movie tells the story of Shakurβs early days in New York City and continues up through his evolution into one of the worldβs most recognized and influential voices before his untimely death at the age of 25. Against all odds, Shakurβs raw talent, powerful lyrics and revolutionary mindset propelled him into becoming a cultural icon whose legacy continues to grow long after his passing.
Starring as Shakur is newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr; Danai Gurira plays Assata Shakur. Also in the cast are Kat Graham, Lauren Cohan and Hill Harper. Jamal Woolard, who appeared as the Notorious B.I.G. in the rapperβs biopic Notorious, reprises his role as Biggie.
All Eyez on Me opens June 16.
