Ferguson, Mo., police Chief Thomas Jackson says that he is staying, despite reports that he planned to step down, according to CNN.

Jackson spoke with CNN to reiterate his plans to stay in his position in the aftermath of the death of Michael Brown on Aug. 9 and the protests in Ferguson. “I’m going to stay and see this through. I report to the city manager, period. And as long as he and the Council support me, then I intend to stay,” Jackson said. “I certainly have the support of the Police Department and the community. I have a lot of support in the community. I think this is my job to complete, and I’m going to do it.”
