Trump Sends Tough Tweet About Chicago Violence

The tweeter in chief is at it again, this time taking aim at Chicago. The tweeter in chief is at it again, this time taking aim at Chicago. On Tuesday, President Donald Trump put Chicago on notice, tweeting:

While it was unclear if the president meant the FBI, the CIA, the Drug Enforcement Administration or the National Guard, his tweet sounded really tough. My guess is that after he sent his tweet, he shot something in the Oval Office with his finger guns.

Jokes aside, and by jokes I mean the president (hiyoooooo!), Chicago’s murder rate is out of control. According to ABC 7 Chicago, police show that so far this year, there have been 38 murders and 182 shootings.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said that they would welcome federal government assistance.

“As the mayor just said a few hours ago, the Chicago Police Department is more than willing to work with the federal government to build on our partnerships with the DOJ, FBI, DEA and ATF to boost federal prosecution rates for gun crimes in Chicago,” Johnson said in a statement released Tuesday.
