On the Shoulders of Giants, executive-produced by Harlem-bred Abdul-Jabbar, tells the story of basketball’s first all-black team, the Harlem Renaissance Big Five, also known as the Rens. Based largely on the book Abdul-Jabar co-authored about the team in 2007, this sports documentary showcases the team’s incredible talent, while exploring the extreme racial tensions in basketball in the 1930s.
