Will Ryan Gosling Play Black Panther? Answered

Whether it’s an unsuspecting journalist visiting the compound of a reclusive artist or a daughter searching for her missing mother who had more secrets than she realized– these movies can be more shocking and creepier than the goriest of horror films. Maybe it’s because mind games that challenge our realities remind us too much of some crazy stuff that could actually happen in real life. Or maybe it’s due to the fact that the answers we’re looking for don’t always come how and when we want them.

Whatever the allure is for these psychological thrillers, if you’re in the mood for something different then sit back and relax because we’ve rounded up a handful of some of the best Black psychological thrillers!

“OPUS”

Ayo Edebiri took a break from cooking on “The Bear” to visit a weirdo singer’s compound as a part of her journalism assignment and let’s just say: things go from bad to worse in this one.

Where to Watch: HBO Max, Hulu

“Blink Twice”

Naomie Ackie, you will always be famous for what you brought to “Blink Twice.” Fair warning though, the twist in this one might be a little raw and disturbing but it’ll spark a necessary conversation.

Where to Watch: Prime Video, MGM+

“Get Out”

You already know if Jordan Peele is involved, it’s going to be a project that makes you think and feel so many things. “Get Out” is too top tier.

Where to Watch: HBO Max, Roku, Hulu

“Us”

It’s a Jordan Peele production, need we really say more?

Where to Watch: Netflix, Prime Video

“The Perfect Guy”

You sold us on “The Perfect Guy” by putting Morris Chestnut and Michael Ealy in the same movie. But we stayed to try to figure out just how folks were getting out of this alive!

Where to Watch: Tubi

“Acrimony”

It’s been almost 10 years since Tyler Perry gave us “Acrimony” and we’re still all trying to figure out how she got on that damn boat! How’s that for a mind bender!

Where to Watch: Prime Video

“Fatal Affair”

You know a film is going to be good when you take two fine actors from the 90s and put them in a whole new genre… and make one of them crazy. This was a side of Omar Epps we didn’t see coming!

Where to Watch: Netflix

“Parallel”

Who knew we needed to see Danielle Deadwyler and Aldis Hodge in a psychological film like this one. Everybody really brought their A-Game in this one!

Where to Watch: Roku, Paramount+, Prime Video

“Missing”

The twist in this Storm Reid- centric film is still one we haven’t gotten over yet. Talk about a thing you didn’t see coming!

Where to Watch: Hulu

“The Man in My Basement”

Now this movie with Corey Hawkins and Willem Dafore admittedly could’ve made things a bit clearer in the third act, but it’s still trippy enough of a ride to enjoy.

Where to Watch: Hulu

“Swan Song”

Mahershala Ali doesn’t get enough credit for this movie and it’s about time that changes. This one will definitely have you thinking and rethinking about what it means to live and die for the ones you love.

Where to Watch: Apple TV+

“Master”

One thing about Regina Hall, she knows how to convince you that she’s fully whatever character she is in order to sell the role. And “Master” is further proof of that (good luck getting through it though, this one is a bit on the spookier side)!

Where to Watch: Prime Video

“Antebellum”

Starring Janelle Monae, this film is still so much a mind-trip, we’re not too sure that it still holds up after a few years. But it’s definitely one that will have you turning it over in your head.

Where to Watch: Hulu
