Steve Harvey doesn’t want “no damn race team.” Harvey went on his radio show today to correct a story that TMZ Sports reported (and The Root picked up) noting that Harvey wanted to start a racing team with Terrance Cox, CEO of Diversity Motorsports, but NASCAR shot them down. Harvey has stated that the whole story isn’t true. According to Harvey, Cox approached him about working with underprivileged youths, something Harvey was all for. Harvey says things took a turn for the worse when Cox began talking about having young people boycott Coca-Cola.

“I said, ‘Wait a minute, man, I’m not sending no young kids down to block no street in Atlanta in front of Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola ain’t done nothing to me. Coca-Cola ain’t done nothing to them,’” Harvey said. “‘Something happen to one of these kids … you’ve got to be kidding me, man. Now, if you want to expose them to NASCAR, then that’s what I’ll do.’”

In case Harvey’s message wasn’t clear, he added: “I don’t want no damn race team! I don’t even like fast-ass cars.”

For Cox, he had this to say: “I wish he had some money so I could sue him, but he ain’t got none.”
