Glenn Grothman presented the controversial bill at a Senate Committee on Public Health, Human Services and Revenue public hearing in Wisconsin last week.

Grothman, who is a staunch opponent of the social welfare establishment, which he believes encourages women to have children out of wedlock, presented Senate Bill 507, which would require the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board to emphasize that nonmarital parenthood is a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect.

There are approximately 13.7 million single parents across the U.S., with single mothers outpacing single fathers 5 to 1. In the state of Wisconsin, single-parent households make up a third of households.

The rights of women are being attacked on all levels by Republicans who are fighting against birth control and abortions and now want every single parent to be charged with child abuse. What happens if there is a divorce or the pregnancy is a result of a rape? Did those factors ever come into consideration? This is just another attempt to strip away the rights of women.
