St. Louis Police said that Ashley Depew was not a victim of one of the random attacks that have commanded nationwide attention, but was actually punched by her boyfriend, Justin Simms, according to KMOV.com. She told police that she was knocked to the ground on Nov. 19 as the two were leaving a bar, the report shows.

Investigators said they decided to check out her story after her claims failed to add up or fit the pattern of other attacks in the area. That's when police determined that the two were never at the bar. Court papers say that Simms reportedly elbowed Depew in the face, the report says.
