In six seasons with the Beavers, Robinson had a losing 95-104 record, with no NCAA tournament appearances. According to SI, the big surprise in the firing of the president’s brother-in-law is not that he was let go but that the school waited some six weeks after Oregon State’s season ended to fire him.

According to SI, the university will owe Robinson more than $4 million because he had three more years remaining on his contract.

Robinson’s first year with the team, the 2008-09 season, may have been his most successful: He led the Beavers to an 18-win season that coincided with the election campaign of Obama. In the summer of 2008, Robinson would introduce Michelle Obama at the Democratic National Convention.

Robinson’s career would take a hard turn after his first season playing in the Pac-12 (Pacific-12 athletic conference): He finished with a 39-69 record in Pac-12 play, SI reports.
