She also got a new car, the Daily Mail reports. Details of the make, model and color were not immediately disclosed. But you won’t see her driving on her own just yet. At 16 in Washington, D.C., she can receive a learner’s permit, but an adult must be present in the front seat at all times, and she can only be on the road during certain hours, according to the Mail.

First lady Michelle Obama joked in February about her oldest daughter being, well, a little scary as a driver. “Ladies and gentlemen in D.C., watch out!” she joked. “Malia Obama on the road—kinda frightening.”

No details were revealed about how Malia spent the day, but we do know that she kicked off her birthday celebration earlier this week with a trip to Disneyland with a friend, E! Online reports.

She and her sister, Sasha, are growing up right before the nation’s eyes. In May President Barack Obama said that Malia attended her prom, and in June she had an opportunity to work on the set of Extant, CBS’s new sci-fi series starring Halle Berry.
