One of the Tulsa, Okla., cops charged in the slaying of their daughter’s black boyfriend was released Thursday night from the county jail, NBC News reports.
Gina Kepler, 48, was granted a $25,000 bail on her charge of being an accessory to murder and was released, although she has to report to court on Tuesday, the news site reports.
“No comment, please respect my privacy,” Kepler said in response to reporters’ questions.
Her husband, Shannon Kepler, also a Tulsa police officer, was still in prison facing murder charges in the death of 19-year-old Jeremy Lake. Lake was reportedly walking with the couple’s 18-year-old daughter, Lisa Kepler,, when the older man approached them in a car and seemingly inexplicably fired at the young man, killing him. Lisa Kepler claimed that her father fired at her as well.
The youngest Kepler had just been kicked out of her house by her parents about a week ago, and met Lake at a homeless shelter.
Reportedly when police contacted the couple, Gina Kepler told them that she knew why they were calling. Later, Gina Kepler called the police and agreed to surrender.
The two officers are currently on administrative leave.
