The federal trial for accused Charleston, S.C., church shooter Dylann Roof has finally been set in motion, with jury selection scheduled for Nov. 7, the Associated Press reports.

Roof is accused of killing nine members of Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, a historic black church in Charleston, including pastor and state Sen. Clementa Pinckney. Roof is facing several federal counts, including hate crimes, in the June 17, 2015, massacre.
According to AP, both defense attorneys and federal prosecutors believe that they have enough time to prepare their case for the fall trial, which is estimated to last up to six weeks.
Roof’s state trial, for which he faces murder charges, is scheduled for January. Both state and federal prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in his case.
