We are now accepting nominations for The Root 2016 Young Futurists, to be revealed in February. To qualify for consideration, a young person needs to be between the ages of 15 and 22 and committed to making the world a better place. We’re seeking candidates who are not only achievers but also innovators in the fields of science and technology, green innovation, community activism, arts and culture, and business.

Past honorees have started businesses, created green solutions in their communities, run charities, championed arts programs for children and researched scientific breakthroughs. Two of last year’s Young Futurists were chosen by the White House to participate in Black History Month events. A total of 25 young people will be selected and celebrated on The Root in 2016.
