To kick off Pride month, Marlon Wayans took to Instagram to deliver a touching tribute to his 19-year-old daughter Amai.

“Happy pride 🌈 to my pride and joy,” he wrote. “I wouldn’t change one effing thing about you. Love you to the moon around the sun through the galaxies and back again.”

Beautiful, right?

But with the Internet being the Internet, it was only a matter of time until ignorance showed its unwelcome face in the comments.

According to Buzzfeed, when user @patriarchal_leadership commented “Damn unfollow. Sad shit,” an unbothered Wayans replied “bye.” And when @chizz401 commented “She’s not old enough to understand what that’s really all about. You have the power to change lives Bro, don’t teach her that,” the Woke-ish comedian clapped back: “she’s 19. She’s who she is until or until she don’t chose different. Love her for her not what i want her to be.”

The Asshole of the Day Award goes to @3mdh5, who butchered the English language when they wrote, “You think if you support her you are good??? Being a parent is not about saying yes to everything no you need to say yes on the good things only now just one question if you really support her would you give up being a grandfather because of this stupid decision she made because at last as remember two girls can’t make a baby.”

To which Wayans succinctly replied, “there’s technology and i got the means.. so thank you shallow fucker. Go hate on your own kids.”

As someone who doesn’t waste a second of my day entertaining trolls, I wondered why the 46-year-old actor chose to shut each of those idiots down instead of just blocking or deleting their comments. But he had an answer for that as well.

“i thought of erasing them but i need the world to see the ignorance that still exist,” he commented on Instagram. “Objective without obstacles is a worthless triumph. We all will some day get to unconditional love. Because of my daughter i am one step closer. i am not God, i don’t judge i just LOVE. And still pray for the haters because i refuse to judge them too i just love.”

That’s one way to look at it, I suppose. Though thankfully, he has other priorities on his plate outside of stomping out Internet trolls.

His next film, On the Rocks, is currently filming.

Homophobia in our community is out of control. Amazing that we sound just like white, Fox News Conservatives. We are the living embodiment of “Love the sinner, hate the sin.” Some of us don’t even do the former. I hope to god all of those assholes commenting have a gay child and then try to act all hard about it. Thinking back to the Pulse nightclub shooting one of the saddest things about that night was parents calling their kid’s phone and finding out they were in that club. They never knew their child was gay because some of them were too scared to tell them. Imagine that running through your head for the rest of your life, you unwilling to accept your child.
