Carey performed at the Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2018, and although, as one of The Root’s crew noted, “She sounded good, but she definitely was singing ‘Hero’ in a lower key than she did in the ’90s,” all the jokes this year were about Steve Harvey and his pimping winter-wonderland outfit.

No doubt, the old Mariah may never be back, but at least she didn’t embarrass herself this year.
