According to the Kansas City Star, the shooting started around 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, and then the suspect fled on foot. Police launched a manhunt, and authorities in Henry County, Miss., apprehended the suspect early Thursday morning.

Olathe police did not release the names of the victims, who were all men. Initially, two of the victims were listed in critical condition, and one as seriously injured. One of the men, however, later died in the hospital. According to the Kansas City Star, sources said that two of the victims were of Middle Eastern or Indian descent.

Police also declined to identify the suspect, who has only been described as a man in his 50s. Witnesses said that the suspect was drinking in Austins and making racial slurs. At one point, a regular at the bar stood up to the suspect. The Kansas City Star notes that neighbors in the Scarborough neighborhood said that the suspect may have suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and that he may have recently been diagnosed with a serious illness.
