Whether it was inadvertent or not, dead-eyed goth girl Lorde pissed off a plethora of Whitney Houston fans recently with a truly tone-deaf Instagram post.

The 21-year-old singer from New Zealand apologized Thursday night after posting a photo of a bathtub filled with water and a newspaper on its side, captioned with a Whitney Houston lyric, “And iiii will always love you.”
As everyone knows, Houston tragically drowned in a bathtub in 2012. Fans of the mellifluous talent got Lorde together quickly.
Lorde apologized soon after, writing: “Extremely extremely poorly chosen quote. I’m so sorry for offending anyone — I hadn’t even put this together I was just excited to take a bath.”
She continued, “I’m an idiot. Love Whitney forever and ever. Sorry again.”
She, of course, had her supporters, too, who were trying to save her from the hot water she placed herself in:
