ORIGINAL STORY: Disney was in the middle of a firestorm that just continued to heat up. After suspending “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” over his monologue about Charlie Kirk, the entertainment giant reportedly faced a growing boycott that even Black folks had to participate in. From people going viral canceling their site subscriptions to getting their money back for cruises, the backlash showed how seriously audiences are taking the company’s decisions— and Black folks didn’t hold back either.

Boycotts had reached an all-time high, prompting Disney’s cancellation page to crash under the sheer volume of users trying to unsubscribe, per Yahoo. Hashtags began to surface across social media platforms, including #CancelDisneyPlus and #CancelHulu, which began trending on Twitter after Kimmel was unexpectedly canned for his comments on Kirk’s passing the day after he was gunned down.

And then this happened. Here’s an update: “Jimmy Kimmel Live” is set to make its comeback on Tuesday, Sept. 23, ending its six-day hiatus. PEOPLE confirmed the show’s return after ABC initially pulled it indefinitely. This decision to resume broadcasting brings a sigh of relief to fans and crew alike after a period of uncertainty. Now back to our story.

While several outlets reported that the company’s market value has dropped by $3.87 billion, the final metric has yet to be confirmed. However, the Walt Disney Company saw its stock plummet 0.67% during early Wednesday trading, per Newsweek

Black folks had a mouthful for the company on social media, as one user claimed that when her husband was asked why he’s cancelling his subscription, he clicked “other” and wrote in the comment box: “I’m canceling because you all canceled Jimmy Kimmel.”

She also teased that she would be taking her dollars over to PBS for a monthly fee of five bucks. “Keep up the good work,” she urged.

“Y’all the Disney adults done did it,” another user teased. “We ain’t getting no more new series, no more new movies, for a hot minute.”

As per usual, fans just had to share their two cents in the comments section. Many praised the woman for “standing on business,” with some revealing that they’ve canceled their own Disney plans.

“I did it yesterday. It was hard! But there are other cruise lines!” one user replied. “As a travel agent, I will not promote or sell Disney products. There are many great options out there that are cheaper,” a second wrote. “Nothing beats canceling a Disney holiday,” a third teased alongside an excited emoji, a play off the viral “Jet 2 holiday” TikTok sound.

On the other hand, some folks are good on the boycott, as one user set folks straight when she doubled down that “too many of my shows are on Hulu.”

“Catch me next season y’all,” she teased with a waving hand emoji.
