Rapper A$AP Rocky was seemingly having the best week ever. He just received the coveted Fashion Icon Award at the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday (Nov. 3), and his heartfelt comments for his partner Rihanna during his acceptance speech went viral. But his week turned sour after his New York City neighbor accused him of being less than neighborly… and causing massive damage to their unit.

The “Fashion Killa” artist is knee-deep in the middle of a legal battle with the owner of another unit in his NYC condo building. The owner is now claiming negligence on the part of a team hired to oversee construction to his $11 million condo that he says led to a flood that caused costly damage to their home.
On October 30, the owner of a unit below Rocky’s condo filed a $1.1 million lawsuit in Manhattan County Supreme Court. According to court documents obtained by The Independent, the ceilings, walls, floors and electrical wiring in the plaintiff’s unit had to be “torn apart and replaced” after several hot water pipes burst in Rocky’s place in December 2024, allegedly causing “a deluge of water to cascade” into surrounding units.
The lawsuit goes on to claim that in addition to the structural damage to the apartment, the owner also lost furniture, clothing and other personal items valued at nearly $700,000. The plaintiff alleges they also had to come out of pocket for almost $200,000 for a new place to live while their condo was uninhabitable, when parts of their ceiling were removed to repair the damage.
According to the plaintiff, the damage was caused when employees from ADE Pro Painting opened windows in Rocky’s apartment to let out fumes caused by their work. Unfortunately, the workers reportedly left the place without closing the windows in “below freezing temperatures.” That, along with radiator supply valves that had been left closed, caused the water trapped inside the radiator to freeze and cause cracks in the pipes.
“Once thawed, not only did the existing water then proceed to gush from cracks in the pipes, but also because no return valves had been installed, the water continued to flow unabated, causing massive flooding,” the complaint read.
The suit names New York City contractor ADE Pro Painting, the building’s condo board and A$AP Rocky’s business manager, Tyson Beem, as defendants. A spokesperson for ADE Pro Painting told The Independent that while an NDA limits what they can say about the case, the company is still waiting for payment for “certain services provided.”
