The 2-year-old boy’s body was recovered from the water’s edge at Fort Yargo State Park in Winder, Ga. People at the park tried to help the child, attempting CPR until emergency responders arrived, but he could not be saved and later died at the hospital.

On Monday, authorities arrested Tarnue Kolubah, 28, and charged him with one count of involuntary manslaughter and one count of cruelty to children in the second degree.

According to the report, Kolubah is a relative and was supposed to be watching the child. He allegedly left the little boy unattended and went to another location on the beach. Eventually, other relatives who were nearby noticed that the child was gone, only to discover him underwater after conducting their own search.

Kolubah is currently being held on a $30,000 bond. According to the report, the boy’s family has been fully cooperating with the investigation.
