Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. isn’t going to be staying at his Las Vegas mansion for a while: He’s headed to a Vegas jail.

The undefeated boxer was sentenced to 90 days in jail after pleading guilty to reduced domestic-battery and harassment charges. He will also have to complete 100 hours of community service and pay a $2,500 fine.
Prosecutor Lisa Luzaich told the judge that it was about time Mayweather faced punishment for his crimes, since he’s skirted them in the past. “He just continually gets himself into trouble, and he is able to get himself out of it as well. Essentially it is because he is who he is and is able to get away with everything.
“The only thing that’s going to get this man’s attention is incarceration,” the prosecutor added.
Mayweather pleaded guilty to hitting his wife, who said she was attacked because she told him she was dating another man. He reportedly threatened to kill her. Mayweather declined comment on the sentencing.
It will be interesting to see if the boxer honors his open date of May 5 for a fight against a yet-to-be-determined opponent. With his next three months in the slammer, we highly doubt we’ll see him in action until September or November.
