The wypipo continue to lose their damn minds over their vigorous and ridiculous embrace of performative patriotism. And if these current allegations prove to be true, perhaps one will lose her job.

According to reports, a Colorado teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave for allegedly assaulting a middle school student who refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Karen Smith, a gym teacher at Angevine Middle School, about 20 miles north of Denver, allegedly assaulted a male student for exercising his constitutional rights.

The Denver Post reports that officers were called to the school around noon Thursday, but details are scarce. The student’s identity has not been released, and neither the school nor the police are releasing further information.

Angevine Principal Mike Medina wrote a letter to families saying that the school was working closely with police and that the school “will have a substitute teacher working with some of our PE classes for the time being.”

A school spokesman told the Post that the policy is to allow students to sit or stand during the pledge.

Unfortunately, Colorado is not the only place where students are being maligned for not standing for the pledge.

All over the country, students are facing penalties for not standing—everything from failure to expulsion. And now assault. We are not quite sure when the pledge or National Anthem became the patriotism litmus test, but we wish that educators and administrators would be this riled up when a black person is shot dead in the street. Not when someone sits or stands for a piece of cloth.
