DeGeneres currently holds the record for most retweeted photo ever for the impromptu selfie she organized at the Academy Awards earlier last month.

"I was doing selfies 60 years before you Facebook folks," the 76-year-old former secretary of state wrote on his Facebook wall. "Eat your heart out Ellen!"

A young, sharply dressed Powell stands in a vest, shirt and tie in front of his bedroom mirror holding a camera. The photo has been "liked" more that 20,000 times on Facebook, with more than 4,000 shares and hundreds of comments.

Powell's assistant, Peggy Cifrino, told Yahoo News that the picture was taken when Powell was about 16 in his parent's home in the Bronx, N.Y.

"His father had just bought him the yellow suede vest that he is wearing in the picture," Cifrino said in an email to Yahoo News. "In the Bronx in the '50s, that was pretty high style."
