‘Origin’ Star Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor: Ava DuVernay Is “A Freedom Fighter Posing As A Director”

Blige stars in the Gnomeo & Juliet sequel with Michael Caine, Johnny Depp, Maggie Smith, Stephen Merchant, Ozzy Osbourne, James McAvoy, Emily Blunt and Chiwetel Ejiofor. It opens in theaters on March 23.

In the follow-up to Gnomeo & Juliet, Gnomeo (voiced by McAvoy) and Juliet (Blunt) move to a new garden where they discover new adventures, new humans and new garden gnomes. Everything goes well until the pair notice that other gnomes in the garden have gone missing. They enlist Sherlock Gnomes (Johnny Depp), along with his trusty sidekick, Watson (Chiwetel Ejiofor), to help investigate the mysterious disappearances. Blige’s character, Irene, is Sherlock Gnomes’ former flame from whom he tries to enlist help.
