Nothing was going to stop Viennese Stanton of Davis, Calif., from having her father walk her down the aisle, even if it meant she had to have her wedding at the hospital where he’s being treated for leukemia.

Stanton said via the Love What Matters Facebook page that she pushed her wedding day up so that her father could celebrate the day with her. Because her father has a weak immune system, he couldn’t attend her wedding at City Hall, so the nurses at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center helped her plan a surprise wedding at the hospital.

“Given the news of my father’s life expectancy (and with the help of an AMAZING nurse team), we were able to have a surprise wedding so my Dad could attend. The nurse team kept the wedding a secret from my Dad, so this whole day was a surprise to him,” Stanton wrote in her post.

Stanton noted that her father, although he’s severely ill, still has spunk and spirit and is fighting to live.

“We have both dreamed of him walking me down the aisle to my groom—and that moment finally happened. This was truly [the] best day of my life! ‘Dad, I love you more than you know, and I am going to be by your side for every step of this process,’” Stanton wrote.

And that was your daily cry.

Bye, Kinja! It's been fun (occasionally).
