But a California judge ruled Thursday that BET was entitled to make Scott change from his usual garb to something more โ€œmasculineโ€ for last year's BET Awards, TMZ reports. The network ended up pulling the personality from the program.

According to the entertainment site, the judge stated that it is within the networkโ€™s First Amendment rights to run its show as it wants, even if that means making someone change clothing.

Scott, of course, is disappointed with the ruling and plans to appeal.

โ€œIt disheartens me that the message sent today wasnโ€™t a message of acceptance, but rather [that] itโ€™s acceptable to discriminate against transgender individuals on the basis of their gender identity and expressionโ€”and that such discriminatory acts are protected under the first amendment,โ€ he wrote in a statement on his website. โ€œIโ€™m committed to change, progress, human rights and equality for all, and by no means do I feel defeated.โ€ ย
