Ashanti Will Finally Address Irv Gotti’s Remarks On Angie Martinez’s Podcast “IRL”

The episode, which will cover the music executive's disturbing remarks about the singer, will air tonight.

Back in August, Irv Gotti took to Drink Champs to discuss his romantic relationship with R&B songstress Ashanti that took place in the early 2000s. He also addressed their sordid past in the BET docuseries about Murder Inc. that aired this past summer.

Gotti faced immense backlash, with most of the criticism stemming from how he used his position of power to prey on Ashanti even though he was married at the time. The singer kept it cuteโ€”and mostly quietโ€”about Gottiโ€™s remarks.

However, she did clap back on Diddyโ€™s โ€œGotta Move On Queens Remixโ€ with the following lyrics:

โ€œItโ€™s giving obsessed, itโ€™s giving you stressed / Itโ€™s giving you pressed, itโ€™s giving this ni**a missing the best/Itโ€™s been 20 years, please cry less/We can see you and your tears while you beatinโ€™ on your chest.โ€ Now, sheโ€™s opening up on Angie Martinezโ€™s โ€œIRLโ€ podcast, which is scheduled to air tonight.

โ€œI regret holding certain people to a certain standard,โ€ Ashanti says in a preview clip. When Martinez asks her if thereโ€™s anything she wants to clear up about what Gotti claimed went down, she replies: โ€œIt wasnโ€™t surprising to me. Irv has flat-out lied about a lot of things.โ€

One of the reasons Ashanti really wasnโ€™t worried about Irvโ€™s gossiping to whomever would listen is because her music has always been the main focus. โ€œIโ€™m very proud and content with what Iโ€™ve accomplished in my career,โ€ she said.

Also, her silence is part of a greater strategy. โ€œThatโ€™s part of being professional, thatโ€™s part of being like a hustler, thatโ€™s part of being a go-getter.โ€ We canโ€™t wait to finally hear her speak up.
