Two Baltimore school police officers, one of whom was reportedly recorded slapping and kicking a teen, have been charged with second-degree child abuse by a custodian and misconduct in office, NBC News reports.

Anthony Spence, 44, and Saverna Bias, 53, were both charged Tuesday and posted bail Wednesday morning.
In the video, which was reportedly captured by a student’s cellphone, Spence is seen smacking and kicking the unidentified teen at Reach! Partnership High School on March 1. Bias is standing near Spence in the video but doesn’t appear to hit the teen.
“The team conducted interviews and gathered evidence related to this case. They consulted with the Baltimore State’s Attorney’s Office after they concluded their investigation. Charges were prepared and filed with the commissioner yesterday evening,” Baltimore Police Department spokesman T.J. Smith said in a statement.
Lauren Geisser, an attorney for the teen in the video, told NBC News that the victim is a 10th-grader at the school, which prepares students for college and careers in health care and construction.
“The child and the family want to keep their names private. He’s a minor child. He was injured and his family is traumatized by what happened,” Geisser told NBC News.
Both officers are due in court for their first appearance in April.
