Rapper XXXTentacionโ€”whose name has been swirling in controversy ever since reports surfaced of his alleged violence toward womenโ€”was reportedly shot Monday afternoon in Miami.

TMZ reports that the 20-year-old, whose real name is Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was in Miami shopping for motorcycles. A gunman reportedly ran up to his vehicle and shot him as he was leaving the motorcycle dealer.

Witnesses on the scene told TMZ that multiple shots were fired and that the rapper was lifeless and without a pulse inside his vehicle. The Broward County Fire Department confirmed to TMZ that XXXTentacion had been rushed to a hospital, but no other information was given about his condition.

The rapper was previously on house arrest while awaiting trial on charges including aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment and witness tampering, but the judge let him off so that he could go on tour. He is facing more than a dozen felony charges and has been accused by prosecutors of witness tampering.
