Candis Doss, 25, told Fox 2 that she called Detroit Limo Party Bus—a company that she found on Craigslist—to get a quote while she was driving. Her phone dropped the call, she says. Before she could call back, she received a text message from the number she had called that read:

“Why do black people always just hang up…Is it an inherited thing to be rude? or is it because you were slaves for so long?”—WWW.DetroitLimoPartyBus.com

Doss says she has never encountered racism until she received the text message. “It never happened to me, or somebody that was just close to me, where I could feel what they feel. I feel what everybody feels now, I mean, it’s just like – when is it gonna stop?” she shared with Fox 2.

Fox 2 reached out to the limo company, which said it would look into the matter. In the meantime, the company has offered Doss a free limo for her mother’s special day.
