Will.i.am deflects comments about the controversy stirring over his choice of costume for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Will.i.am is calling his choice to perform in "blackface" an artistic one, not a racial one. Read his Tweet below:
"1st. just because I where all black including head mask as expression and emphasize my outfit, it shouldnβt be looked at as racialβ¦," "Let go of the past. there are far more important things 2 bark about. (Jobs, health, education) not a black man wearing all black everything."

We're not sure why he's surprised that people would be surprised at his choice of artistic expression. This costume looks more S&M than "blackface" to us, which would still have people talking. Stop feigning surprise and just own the artistic decision and fallout.
