“We’re not only looking for freedom in Underground; we are still looking for freedom,” said actress Aisha Hinds. Hinds is debuting her character, the legendary Harriet Tubman, in season 2 of Underground on March 8.

It’s 2017, and while slavery is over, many black people don’t feel the freedom we were supposedly granted. The Root asked the cast of Underground to define freedom and to share a time when they felt the most free.
