For Black History Month, The Root is celebrating blackness in a new The Root TV series called I Love My Blackness. In the series, we celebrate black skin, black style, black friendship and black love.
Our first video of the series celebrated our love of our black skin and the understanding that black is gold. The second centered on the richness and complexities of black love.

One of the besties in the video says of her black friendships: “I honor it a lot because I know I can go to someone and be like, ‘Y’all, I’m scared to go to work tomorrow after Donald Trump’s election,’ and they can give me an honest experience and say, ‘Hey, we all go through it and you have a community behind you.’”
