Police in Halifax, Va., have been pranking drivers and pulling people over in traffic stops. Yes, pranking. Only to give them an ice cream cone and a smile instead of a ticket.

In the video below, a black woman is pulled over, and the only thing I can imagine going through her head is, “What did I do?”

She politely answers his questions with “No, sir” and “Yes, sir” when he asks if she knows why she’s getting pulled over. The officer then informs the driver that she’s violated “vehicle code 1739,” which basically means “driving on a hot day without an ice cream cone.”

The woman and her passenger eventually get the joke and burst into laughter.

According to WSET, in total, the officers gave out 20 ice cream cones.

“Her reaction was absolutely the best,” Police Officer Brian Warner told WSET. “It was genuine, and she had us smiling and laughing for a good hour afterwards, and I’ve probably watched the video myself 50 times just laughing. That’s one of the great things with police work, you get to meet people like that on a daily basis, and it makes the job worth it.”

Yeah, genuine after she realized she’d get out of a police stop alive.
