โThe more I learned about the company, the more I learned, like, โWow, this is literally me,โโ Williams says of her decision to join the board of the popular site, where she admits sheโs traditionally been more of a buyer than a seller.
โPoshmark was built by a community of strong, independent women just like Serena Williams,โ said Manish Chandra, founder & CEO of Poshmark. โAs both our company and community continue to grow, itโs important that we bring smart and diverse new voices to the table, and we couldnโt be more thrilled about what the future holds with Serena in our corner.โ
โPoshmark is disrupting retail by making shopping and selling social again, and I love working with a company that gives anyone an opportunity to become an entrepreneur,โ said Williams. โIโm also excited for the community to shop my Posh Closet for Charity, which will benefit a cause thatโs very important to me.โ
That cause is the Yetunde Price Resource Center (YPRCLA), the nonprofit Williams founded in the aftermath of her older sisterโs 2003 shooting death. The organization โoffers trauma-informed programs that promote individual and community-wide healing and resiliency,โ according to a statement.
To celebrate her new alliance with Poshmark, Williams has created a closet of some of her most recognizable designer favesโwith all proceeds benefiting YPRCLA. Picks from Alexander Wang, Louis Vuitton, Roberto Cavalli and more are currently up for grabsโbut act soon; this opportunity to cop some celebrity style is going fast!
